Childrens Book Illustrations

All the work shown here begins as a rough pencil drawing on cartridge paper. Once I am happy with the drawing it is transferred to watercolour paper sometimes by tracing with a lightbox but usually by computer printer. The transferred drawing is then stretched onto a board using the traditional technique of wetting the paper and taping with gumstrip. I sometimes add a wash of colour while the paper is still wet. Ink or pencil outlines can be added when dry and watercolour applied. I use coloured pencils to add final touches. This selection of childrens book illustrations represent the three years past.
